Lovins, Amory B. "A Farewell to Fossil Fuels:
Answering the Energy Challenge." Foreign Affairs. Mar/Apr 2012: 134. SIRS Issues
Researcher. Web. 04 Dec 2012.
Lovins' article is educating readers about the
use of fossil fuels and how they are causing major issues environmentally and
also with our economy. The use of all these fossil fuels are causing lots of
pollution, which are damaging the ozone layer and changing the natural climate.
The U.S. is also spending the most on fossil fuels; $2 billion a day plus
another $4 billion to the macroeconomic costs of oil
dependence.
"Renewable Energy." Current Issues: Macmillan
Social Science Library. Detroit: Gale, 2010. Gale Opposing Viewpoints In
Context. Web. 6 Dec. 2012.
This article is educating readers about all the
different types of renewable energy sources. Some of these resources will not
work in all different types of environments and climates. For example, you can't
use a solar panel in places where it is always cloudy and rainy. It also tells
you the types of benefits that come from using these types of energy sources.
For example, these energy sources require little to no energy, and they replace
at the same rate it is used.
"Renewable Energy Is Beneficial for the
Environment." Renewable Energy. Ed. Jacqueline Langwith. Detroit: Greenhaven
Press, 2009. Opposing Viewpoints. Rpt. from "Chapter 1: The Development of
Energy." Science Clarified. 2007. Gale Opposing Viewpoints In Context. Web. 6
Dec. 2012.
This article is educating readers that renewable
energy can take place of fossil fuels and help out the environment, along with
the economy. Even though replacing fossil fuel use with renewable energy sources
can be somewhat difficult, it will all be worth it. Since the U.S. is the top
spender and user on energy, switching to renewable energy will do the economy
and environment good.
